MBI Feeding Program
Mindanao Blessings International 's initial program was started in 1995 with the very purpose of meeting the hunger problems of thousands of children in the surrounding villages in Ozamiz City, Mindanao, Philippines. It started out with less than a hundred of them in the living room of Vangie's mother's apartment. Since it's inception we have fed a total of over three thousand children and to this date is continuing the feeding program every Saturday totalling 500 children and some adults.
Transportation is provided for the children coming from the city's barrios and villages with the supervision of the barrio captain or a community volunteer.
When the children age 3 to 17 arrive at the center at 9 am, they are placed into their age appropriate classes where they receive teachings on the word of God through bible stories, music, crafts and games coordinated by our local MBI staff.
The morning is capped by a delicious, nutritious lunch the kids are eagerly waiting for!!! The children look forward to coming every Saturday! It could be the only full meal they get to eat for the week.
It breaks your heart watching some children save part of their meal and put it in their pockets for their family back home.
Others asked for a doggie bag to share their meal with a sibling.
Our goal is to feed as many children as we can on Saturdays for as long as we can. If your heart breaks for these children, please partner with us in feeding thousands of children and ending the hunger problem inMindanao, Philippines.
Note: One of our major need is to have the funds to buy a truck or van so that we can transport the children to and from the center.
