MBI 2016 Christmas Newsletter

Changing Lives, Lifting the Poor, Making a Difference

Dear Friends:

Warmest Christmas greetings during this beautiful holiday season! First, let us thank you for your faithful giving during the year 2016. Your contributions make the difference in the life of a child and their families. Food, clothing, schooling, emergency medical assistance, and spiritual discipleship are the fruits of your commitment. We are blessed to have you as partners in the ministry of Mindanao Blessings International.

Your gifts to the ministry generate tangible results – results that matter. We know that “only one life will soon be passed, but only what’s done for Christ will last.” The investment you make builds the Lord’s kingdom on this earth, which will speak for eternity. Below are some examples of how God is working through MBI using your generous support.

Faith, a beautiful young woman who is our sponsored student since she was 6 years old is now 15. In March of this year, Faith’s health was in serious jeopardy. She has incessant bouts of terrible headaches and vomiting, fever and heart palpitations. Her grandmother who is already caring for her three younger siblings is penniless and her step father does not have the means to pay for a doctor’s visit. Our field directors Cecille and James Cagaanan took immediate action and through the financial contribution of our supporters we were able to send Faith to a nearby medical facility for emergency diagnosis. The medical finding showed she was malnourished and has anxiety syndrome. After 2 weeks, Faith’s headaches and vomiting stopped. She was monitored and given a nutritious diet, vitamins, and a series of wellness visits to the doctor! She is an active member of the church youth ministry leadership and is on the honor roll at her school. Please continue to pray for Faith.

Sixteen year old Erica is also a sponsored student since she was seven. She is a happy and vibrant young woman who loves the Lord and is becoming an integral part of the student ministry leadership in the church. Like Faith, she asked to be trained in helping the children’s feeding program which MBI has committed to serve every Saturday of the year. Erica is deeply grateful that she is able to go to school through MBI’s Child Sponsorship Program. Without MBI’s sponsorship, school was out of reach for Erica because of her family’s limited resources.

The stories above are just a few examples of the blessing MBI is to these young children. This is our mission in action. To date, seven students have graduated and completed their education. We have a commitment to 75 students currently in school from kindergarten to college. Our biggest challenge is to have enough funds to meet our $5,000.00 monthly budget to send every single one of these children to school. Some months we only have $1,500 to $1,800. We are looking for sponsors who will take the challenge to become a sponsor in making a difference in the life of a child and lift them out of poverty and hopelessness. These children are counting on us. Some are vulnerable to child sex trafficking and exploitation. Your sponsorship prevents them from becoming victims of this ugly humanitarian crisis. It’s only $29.00 per month to sponsor a child. $29 will provide for his/her monthly tuition and fees, uniforms and shoes, books and school supplies, and emergency medical help.

Another life-giving program of MBI in Ozamiz City is the Children’s Feeding Program. We feed 300 plus children and some adults once per week - for many this is the only balanced meal they eat for the week. These children get up early on Saturday morning to walk for miles just to come to the feeding center, anticipating to fill their hungry stomachs with good food. We need help in funding this program. It takes a mere $1.25 to feed each child. The children love the teaching of the Word of God . They also enjoy worship singing and games which are included in the weekly activities.

[endif]--Every Christmas we give the children a Party and we plan a joyous feast of food, games and activities and give each child a gift! Will you help us bless a fun filled Christmas Party for these children with a gift and a meal? It could be the only Christmas gift they’ll receive!

James Cagaanan, the co director of MBI and pastor of Ozamiz New Life Christian Fellowship is currently serving as the general presbyter of Northwestern section of the Assembly of God in Mindanao, Philippines. He has 50 ministers under his supervision. 35 out of 50 need a motorbike for transportation so that they can successfully carry out the call of God in their lives to teach the Word, do evangelistic outreaches, funerals and weddings, baptisms, bible studies, prayer meetings and other pastoral work as well as family transportation. In May of this year, we are thankful to the leaders and church family at Arlington Assembly of God in Arlington, Virginia for their generous act of providing 2 motorbikes through a new MBI project “A Motorcycle for Every Pastor” One motorbike costs $1,500.00.There are still 32 who need one. If you want to see a Pastor dancing with exorbitant joy by giving him/her motorbike.for transportation, God bless you!!!

Thank you for loving us and partnering with us with your faithful prayer and financial support. We ask the Lord to bless our partners and supporters with good health, healing of their bodies, joy ,peace and multiply their investments into building His kingdom here on earth as promised in His Word. Wishing you and your families a Blessed Christmas and New year!
